30 Days of Truth Day 17 & 18

Day 17 : A book you’ve read that changed your views on something.

While it didn’t change my views on anything, I do love the Hunger Games trilogy.

I don’t read a lot of modern fiction; i prefer the classics, but these characters sucked me in. I laughed with them, cried with them & mourned deaths like my best friends had died. I cheered at their victories & my breath caught in my throat when things went wrong.

There are only two truly “good” characters in these books, Primrose Everdeen & Peeta Mellark. The rest of Panem is grey or just plain evil. I know there’s a Team Gale/Team Peeta debate but IMO there is no question; every one should be so lucky to be loved by someone like Peeta, who is good to a fault, loving & gentle & willing to die to protect his Katniss not once, but several times.

This is not Twilight; it’s not a love story in a non-descript world. This is a story of one girl’s actions & the reactions that shook the world, reminding us that one person can change the course of history, whether or not they meant to do it.

Day 18 : Your views on gay marriage

I’ve blogged about this in the past, so I’ll just link up the old blog Here.

Obviously I support gay marriage. I helped one of my best friends plan her union last year. I’m gonna take the Whoopi Goldberg stance on this:

“If you don’t support gay marriage, don’t marry a gay person.”
