International Women’s Day

Before I continue to blog about my normal fluff & silliness, I want to take a moment to mention something very important to me.

Today is International Women’s Day.

While we are fortunate enough to live in a country where we are free to vote, wear what we want & even hold our highest political office, many women do not have that luxury. In many societies, rape is still legal, women are traded like cattle & even in the United States, a woman was called a slut for expressing the opinion that health insurance should cover contraception.

So, take a moment today & remember how fortunate we are. Maybe donate to a women’s charity. The House of Sophrosyne is one very close to me & do a lot of great work for women.

Also, I want to stress that everyone deserves to be treated equally. 10% of relationships in Canada are abusive. Name calling IS abuse. Shoving IS violence. Spitting in someone’s face IS degrading. No one deserves it. There are programs to help you if you are in that situation. Heck, I’ll help you. Email me & I’ll offer my support.

Let’s continue to strive for gender equality & end violence against women.
