There’s a lot of brouhaha about Christina Aguilera’s weight.
The songstress was allegedly misquoted online (with the misquotes being attributed to her recent Billboard cover) where she claimed she told her label “You are working with a fat girl & you need to be okay with that.” (More about the article can be found here))
Aguilera is no longer rail thin, but most women who have given birth will find their weight goes up & down. I know I struggle with my own weight & it’s taken a long time for me to feel okay in my size 14 body (I’m not always, but most days). The fact that she seems okay with her weight gain is actually pretty awesome.
One thing I have always admired about Aguilera is her DILIGAF attitude. She doesn’t care what anyone thinks, she just does it, & knows her vocal talents will always speak for themselves. Aguilera’s brash & unapologetic attitude has earned her some ire, but perhaps we should be showing her some respect. She says what she feels & sometimes that’s not always very nice. She doesn’t play the PR game; if she thinks you suck, she’ll tell you. If she were a man, she’d be considered a bad ass.
Perhaps more women should embrace their looks & just enjoy who they are. Why spend so much time hating how you look, photoshopping your photos so you can appear thinner, or crying at the scale? I know I could stand to remember this some days.
When all is said & done, the thing that makes you the most beautiful is who you are, not that number on the scale. How someone carries themselves is true beauty, external is just a bonus. The most beautiful people are the ones who are genuinely loving & caring people. Perhaps we should all look @ the people in our lives & base “beauty” not on toned abs, but by this simple ideal:
“ The true measure of a man is based on how he treats those who can do nothing for him.”
